In the heart of Kortrijk the construction of Basta started
Basta is the second chapter of the redevelopment of an urban block in the center of Kortrijk, involving, a broad house built in the second quarter of the 19th century. A situation that poses some limitation but presents an opportunity for an experimental urban laboratory.
By preserving the volume and connecting it to a new extension, we create a thread that connects time and light. As you climb, you step away from the past and live a different experience through the contribution of light. The existing facade of the broad house acts as a semi-open filter towards the street, creating a renewed relationship between the private and the urban context. The tower is an extension with respect for the heritage value of the house and the historical environment. Densification is made possible without tabula rasa.
